Born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, Gustavo developed his love for art during his various studies of graphic design, photography and illustration. After a few years working as an illustrator for children's books, he started to experiment with the paper-mache technique while in Barcelona, where he lived in 2000.
Throughout the years, he continuously worked on improving and developing his skills as he kept on creating innovative and truly distinctive pieces. His designs are typically minimalistic in nature, contrasted with detailed bright and colourful patterns.
His creatures have been described as “joyful”, providing “a happy personal connection”.
Since 2006, Gustavo resides in Amsterdam and in Berlin, where he frequently exhibits his work.
